Ranch: $31.7 million is requested by a 27,000 acre South Now
- $31.7 million is requested by a 27,000-acre South Dakota ranch; bison is not included.
Ranch
- For an astounding $31.7 million, a nearly 27,000-acre untamed and rough bison ranch in South Dakota is up for sale.
- With a five-bedroom main residence at its heart, the Dakota Partnership Ranch is undoubtedly the most expensive property on the public market in Mount Rushmore State, given its eight-figure price tag.

- The ranch, which is located south of Rapid City and close to the Black Hills mountain range, is a “serious trophy property,” according to listing agent Mike Fraley of Hall & Hall, which listed the property earlier this month.
- As Fraley put it, “The ranch has it all.”
- “Very nice upgrades, water, and different terrain.”
- Furthermore, he said, “you really have no neighbors because from its center, you are several miles in each direction to the property boundary.”
Ranch
- According to Fraley, “it’s not common to have a listing over 10,000 deeded acres, let alone over 25,000 deeded acres” in the area, adding even more rarity to the Dakota Partnership Ranch.
- The ranch is traversed by ten miles of Dry Creek and features a variety of topography, including grass plains, ridges, natural springs, ponds, and badlands.
- According to Fraley, badlands are chalky buttes and ridges that aren’t always the best places for cattle to graze.
- However, there aren’t nearly enough badlands on the ranch to qualify as barren land—just “just enough to be scenically beautiful.”
- Though I think the badlands are beautiful, I have to admit that my favorite geographical feature is the sizable reservoir in the middle of the ranch, according to Fraley.
- “You have nearly 200 surface acres in your own private reservoir.
- That’s spacious enough for boating, jet skiing, and obviously excellent fishing.
Ranch
- The owner’s house, which is a log structure with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a bunk room, an attached garage, and a separate six-car garage, is the focal point of the ranch.
- According to Fraley, it’s “simple, but impressive” and “perfect for a large family retreat.”
- According to the listing, there are three properties on the land: the main house and two that are positioned at either end of the ranch as employee compounds.
Ranch
- Given its size, it should come as no surprise that the ranch is home to a wide range of wildlife, including turkey, waterfowl, deer, and antelope.
- In addition, it currently has 1,800 bison and all the amenities required to maintain the animals.
- An ideal buyer would be one who wanted to keep the large herd on the ranch, “either by purchasing the animals or working out an arrangement with the [owner] of the bison,” according to Fraley, even though the purchase price does not include the herd.
- Mansion Global was unable to find out who owned the ranch or when it was last sold.
- Fraley would not comment on who they were.
